Message Switch Transaction Processing
Montran has developed the Central System Configuration for the Global Payments System
in response to the growing need by our customers for access to Multiple National Payment
Systems. The Central System Configuration for the Global Payments System allows multiple
users to share resources and facilitates message exchange. This is made possible by the
use of a single Message Switch System (MES), which handles all routing of messages.
Payment messages to and from SWIFT, back-office interfaces, and GPS payment applications
are all passed through MES, which in turn may communicate with several national systems.
Typically, a Multibank Configuration will consist of several GPS applications and a
single MES application. Each GPS application represents a different country, each capable
of operating completely independently. This includes independent parameters for all local
system requirements such as transaction flow, accounting, and charges, etc., and continues
to provide the flexibility that is the strength of GPS.
Shared resources include terminal and security features, narrative files, and on-line
Help documentation. The system also makes provision for shared CIF_Database. If a system
sharing a database is shut down, the database will not be reallocated if another system
is still using it.
MES is also an investigation system that has the ability to investigate message statuses
at any point. The single MES application operates completely independently of the GPS
payments system applications and does not depend upon the operation of the Payments System.
It can easily be closed down and brought back up for the next business day. This facilitates
the addition of any other application interfaces that might be required.
